Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of the website. Reading a page or using a search feature indicates agreement with them. A visitor who does not accept the conditions should discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a government body. Neither it nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Its purpose is to identify Powhatan County and Virginia criminal-record resources. It is not a private investigator or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent of all public offices. It does not store official records, perform official checks, retrieve files, or submit documents.

Its content directs readers to the Powhatan County Sheriff's Office, local courts, Virginia State Police CCRE, the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, and outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on avoiding the following conduct:

  • Interfering with performance or another visitor's access
  • Using bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Attempting unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Using information to threaten, stalk, or harass a person
  • Using site content for a decision regulated by the FCRA
  • Violating any applicable federal, Virginia, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool must not be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate against anyone. Virginia law places special limits on use of the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, and misuse can carry criminal penalties. Registry notice exists for public safety, never vigilante action or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create consumer, credit, or background reports. Advertising partners likewise are not presented as providers for regulated screening. Data from these pages or linked tools must not be used to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

When law authorizes a check for a regulated purpose, use the appropriate Virginia State Police process or a qualified FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing published here is legal advice. General explanations of Powhatan County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, expungement, or sealing law applies to a particular situation. Consult a licensed Virginia attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

All content is furnished "as is," without a promise that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges may be filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged, so record information can change. Gaps and delays remain possible. No page is an official statement from a sheriff, court, or other public agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links point to official agencies, courts, legal-aid sources, and outside search services. The destination controls its availability, prices, data practices, and content. This website is not responsible for those matters, so review the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Powhatan County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, modified, or adapted without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site is not liable for damages arising from its use or from reliance on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to indemnify and hold the site harmless from claims or demands caused by that user's conduct or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from website use must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

These conditions may be revised. A new version takes effect when posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected language will be limited only as much as necessary.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
